Manchester United transfers: Darmian flies in to complete £12.9m move
Man Utd are set to complete their second signing of the summer with Darmian on his way to Manchester for a medical
Matteo Darmian is set to complete his move to Manchester United after boarding a flight to the UK.
The Italian defender will become Louis van Gaal’s second signing of the summer after United agreed a fee of around £12.9m with Torino.
The 25-year-old will undergo a medical at Carrington before flying out with the rest of United’s squad for their pre-season tour of the US on Monday.
Van Gaal was eager for Darmian to be in place in time to take part in the four-game trip to America.
And the Italian international confirmed he was due to complete the formalities of his move, saying: “I’m very excited and ready for this new adventure.
“It’s a dream, but I am superstitious, so I don’t want to say anything until we’ve signed the paperwork.”
Speaking to Sky Sport Italia, he added: “I say thank you to Torino and the Toro fans, who were fantastic to me over these years.”
Darmian is United’s second signing following the £25m capture of Memphis Depay.
