Travelers’ diarrhea (TD) is the most common illness
acquired by visitors to developing countries. A total
of 30% to 50% of the 80 million people who travel from
industrialized countries to developing regions each year
will be affected.1 The risk increases with the duration of
travel, and Hoge and colleagues2 found that expatriates
