PERSONAL BACKGROUND,ATTITUDES,CONVICTION AND ENTREPRENEURIAL INTENTION
AMONG UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS OF UGANDA CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY BY OLEJA CHARLES(ACCA)
ABSTRACT
The focus of this research is in the area of entrepreneurial intention where entrepreneurship in this study is defined as the process of the founding new firms.
Such s study is important since intention is considered to precede the actual behavior
of founding a business. Government are looking to the private sector to create jobs for
the unemployed by way of founding new firms that would absorb the unemployed, and also
create economic development. Governments are moving from doing business and being
the biggest employer. The research approach adopted in this dissertation includes cross
sectional, survey, and quantitative research design to examine the relationship between
personal background, general and domain attitudes, conviction and entrepreneurial
intention. The findings from this research provide evidence that conviction is a very strong predictor of entrepreneurial intention, and personal background, general attitudes, and domain attitudes are significantly correlated to entrepreneurial intention. The main conclusions drawn from this study are that there is a significant
relationship between convict and entrepreneurial intention; and between general attitudes, domain attitudes, personal background, and entrepreneurial intention.
This dissertation recommends change of attitudes through provision of knowledge
to increase entrepreneurial behavior since behavior is preceded by intention.
It also recommends inspiring up person's conviction.
