Moog describes children’s vocal and motoric reponses to sound over a
period time, and outlines a development whithin these responses. Such an
outline provides for useful information, as it creates an overview of the vocal
and melodic development of the young child, which can be of help in
clarifying vocal utterences of young children. However, since it concerns a
rather one-dimensional piece of research, and shows no relation to other
forms of musical behaviour, it is up to us to place his findings in a broader
context.
