Spectrophotometers
The modern spectrophotometer employing either a glass prism or a diffraction grating to produce monochromatic analyses. It has a wide range of adaptability that allows selection of monochromatic light of any wavelength in the visible spectrum. In addition, some instruments provide light in the ultraviolet and near-infrared regions. One filter usually suffices for the entire visible range of wavelengths. Separate filters are needed for the manner in which the monochromatic light is obtained. Figure 11.5 shows a schematic diagram of a spectrometer, and Fig. 11.6 shows a typical instrument.
