2.4. Characterization
2.4.1. Differential scanning calorimetry
Melting (Tm), crystallization (Tc) and glass (Tg) transition tem-peratures, and the melting, crystallization associated enthalpy val-ues for degraded post-consumer PET products were determined by
using DSC under nitrogen atmosphere PERKIN ELMER DSC 7
equipped with the PYRIS 9.0.2 software. The calibration was
performed by using In (Tm = 156.6 C, D H = 28.4 J/g) and Pb(Tm = 327.5 C, D H = 23.03 J/g) as internal standards. The scanning
rate for all the runs was 20 C/min. For some representative sam-ples of flexible PVC compounds the thermal transitions were deter-mined by using DSC 4000 Perking Elmer controlled by the software
Pyris series 4000 at 10 C/min as scanning rate for all the runs.
