A recent study (Im and Kim, 2009) showed that 20 preterm infants receiving
Yakson twice a day for 15 days had significantly greater reduction in 24-hour
urinary
cortisol and norepinephrine on day 16, compared to 20 other preterm
infants receiving no touch therapy. A third group receiving GHT also showed
significant
reductions in stress hormones compared to the control group. The GHT group showed a somewhat weaker response than the Yakson group, although
the difference was not statistically significant.
