Two new friedolanostanes and four new xanthones were isolated
from twigs of G. hombroniana together with 14 known compounds.
Friedolanostanes and lanostanes have been isolated from
the pericarp and leaves of G. hombroniana (Rukachaisirikul et al.,
2000b, 2005b). However, this is the first isolation of xanthones
from this plant. Most of the isolated compounds did not show significant
antibacterial activity against S. aureus and methicillinresistant
S. aureus strains, except for compounds 9 and 10 which
displayed moderate antibacterial activity against methicillin-resis
