Since the latter usually contain
impurities such as benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and metaxylene
(BTEX) the recycled amine solutions become progressively
more contaminated (Gas Processors Suppliers Association, 2004;
Nielsen and Arture, 1997) BTEX accumulation creates operating
problems including foaming (Verma and Verma, 2009; Gavin et al.,
2001).
