There appears to be a general lack of importance
attached to the routeing component which relates to the
proximity of the air or seaport to the origin and
destination of the goods. It is likely that the shipper is not
interested in the actual route which the shipment takes,
as long as it arrives on time and without encountering
any problems. The lack of importance of the route in the
freight supplier's purchase decision may reflect a
perceived lack of control over the shipment while it is on
the vessel or aircraft The freight supplier is concerned
that the service runs on time, has a convenient schedule
and that space is available, otherwise he also cares little
about the actual route
