First, GeneDB and NCBI databases were used to retrieve the sequences
of five proteins whose immunogenic potential had already
been assessed in other studies (KP); these are represented by the vaccine target Sm14 in Fig. 1A. In addition, the sequences of three
hundred hypothetical proteins whose immunogenic potential is
unknown (UP) were also retrieved; these are represented by the
protein Sm149930 in Fig. 1B. The KPs were considered vaccine targets
because treatment with these proteins resulted in reduced
parasite burdens, granulomas and oviposition or increased the
activation of cell proliferation. The vaccine targets used in this
study were Sm14 (GenBank: XP_002580432.1), Sm10 (GenBank:
Q94748.1), Sm23 (GenBank: P19331.1), Sm29 (GenBank:
XP_002578407.1), and Sm21.7 (GenBank: XP_002569898.1).
