Severe symptoms of chilling injury are manifested by the appearance of surface pitting. These symptoms were evaluated in the fruits at days 1 and 8 of the reconditioning period. Symptom severity was scored as 0 = no pitting; 1 = less than 5% of fruit surface pitting; 2 = pitting covering 5-25% of fruit surface; 3 = pitting covering 25-50% of fruit surface and 4 = more than 50% of fruit surface covered with pitting.
