Pennywort, family Umbellifererae, locally known as bua-bok, is
used in the Ayurvedic system of medicine to treat various diseases.
In Thailand, it has also been used for a long time as a vegetable
and tonic (Pramongkit 1995) and is believed to have beneficial effects
on improvingmemory and in treating mental fatigue, anxiety,
and eczema (Vimala and others 2003). Moreover, it has been reported
that wound and ulcer healing are enhanced by its action in
promoting fibroblast proliferation and collagen synthesis (Maquart
and others 1990).
