The employee is seated on a chair and blind folded
The manager (facilitator) is seated also on a chair and seated on the end of the room
A co-facilitator remains next to the blindfolded employee to ensure at all times the employee doesn’t hurt themselves
Once both are blindfolded the other participants change the position of items in the room
There are some obstacles in the way between the path from employee to manager (chairs, tables, flipcharts, people standing)
The manager starts speaking to the employee to inform him that he/she is also blindfolded but that he/she has full confidence that both will be able to get through any difficulties together. The manager will guide the employee after they get up from the chair by asking questions i.e. what they feel in front of them, what other ways they see to overcome the obstacle
The employee uses the distance of the voice to gauge how far he/she is away and in which direction they need to go
