the biggest challenge is how to grow a company for the long term, increase customer base for the long term, provide what is needed by employees, take chances on new products, etc., as long as the stock market focus is so short term. I'd be inclined to say, " list us where you want, but be clear to investors that this company is not focused on quarter by quarter performance. It will be driven in two to 5 year intervals and on delivering profits, but not to the penny forecasts." That would allow the challenge to be on goods and creativity, not on delivering the forecast, but you would pay a price in the stock market for that. Long term investors (and those are the ones you really want) wouldn't care a lot as long as the trend was upward.
