The aim of the present work was to combine the advantages of
MAE and DLLME to develop a new sample-preparation method for
the simultaneous determination of 16 PAHs in grilled meat by gas
chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC–MS). MAE has been used
to achieve high extraction performance and very rapid transferal
from the sample matrix. The aqueous alcoholic KOH was used as a
solvent for absorbing the microwave energy and accomplishing the
fast release of PAHs from the grilled meat matrix. Factors relevant
to microextraction efficiency, such as the volume of extraction and
disperser solvents, salt amount and ethanol ratio, were optimized
using response surface methodology (RSM) based on central composite
design (CCD). The performance of the present method was evaluated
for the determination of PAHs in various types of real grilled meat
samples.
