Any food labeled "organic" must meet specific standards that the United States Department of Agriculture has put into place. Making a choice to select organic produce means that you're choosing foods grown by farming methods that protect the environment, conserve biodiversity among crops and minimize pesticides. When you see "100 percent organic" on a label, this means that all ingredients are completely organic. If you see the "USDA organic" label, 95 percent of the ingredients in that food must be certified organic by the USDA.
