The present results revealed that the growth rates,
survival and feed conversion ratio (FCR) were signi¢-
cantly a¡ected (P o 0.05) by water temperature.With
the exception of ¢sh survival, the variations among
the replicates of each treatment were very low. The
growth of the ¢sh reared at 28 1C was almost double
the growth at 24 and 32 1C (Table 1). Fish growth at
24 and 32 1C was not signi¢cantly di¡erent. The best
FCR was obtained at 28 1C, and was slightly better
than, but not signi¢cantly di¡erent from, that at 26
and 30 1C (P 4 0.05), while the poorest FCR was
obtained at 24 and 32 1C (P o 0.05). Fish survival ranged between 68% and 88% and was not signi¢cantly
di¡erent (P 4 0.05) at 24^30 1C, but was signi¢cantly
higher than that at 32 1C (P o 0.05).
