Abstract
The optimum concentration of plant growth regulator for plantlets initiation from disinfested Nymphaea nouchali var. versicolor ‘Bua Phuean’ tuberous rhizome under light and dark conditions had been studied. When tuberous rhizome was cultured on Murashige and Skoog (MS) semi-solid medium supplemented with or without 2.5 mg/l BAP in combination with 0 and 0.1% activated charcoal for 4 weeks, the highest number of leaf induction was found in explant cultured on MS semi-solid medium supplemented with 2.5 mg/l BAP and 0.1% activated charcoal under light condition. The average maximum number of foliage formation and petiolar length were 6.8 leaves per explant and 1.86 cm, respectively. Plantlet was unable to induce under dark condition.
