In a piglet study, the dietary supplementation
with E. faecium SF68 (Cylactin) led to an improved piglet performance in the first week
post-weaning (Broom et al., 2006). Other researchers observed a reduction in diarrhoea
incidence and an improved daily weight gain when E. faecium was administered orally to
piglets from birth to weaning, but these results have to be considered critically because they
had a very high incidence of diarrhoea (40 %) in the control group (Zeyner and Boldt, 2006)
