Flavonoids is a substance found naturally in many plants which benefits health both prevention and treatment, and plays a role in antioxidant activity. It enhances the immune system, prevents heart disease. The main objective of literature review is to investigate antioxidant activity of flavonoids from plants. The quantitative method used for antioxidants determination is Diphenyl-Picryhydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging assay. For sample, methanol extract of Rhamnus alaternus L. IC50 values 1.5 mg/ml (Ammar et al 2009), methanol extract of Artemisia campestris IC50 values 2.053 mg/ml (Akrout et al, 2011) and 50% ethanol extract of Artemisia herba-alba IC50 values 2.064 mg/ml (Khlifi et al,2013). The results showed that all extract from plants tested features antioxidant and flavoniods substance demonstrates remarkable potential as a valuable source of antioxidant.
