According to data of the European Food Safety Authority, a median of 5 lg L1 and a P95 (95th percentile of values) equal to 78 lg L1 were found in 23,278 wine samples from EU Member States. There are currently no harmonized maximum EC levels for table wine in the EU, but Canada and USA recommend maximum values of 30 lg L1 and 15 lg L1, respectively (EFSA, 2007).
