That means the first research question is to representing the Thai govemment’s image in news from year 2009; and the second is about characteristics that the authors used in their writing to present Thai govermment’s image. These research questions will be examined by using Corpus-Based Analysis and the approach of Critical Discourse Analysis to reveal the answer of these.
Method the study:
There are many things to lean about how to understand the meaning of written discourse. There are three main purposes of criticizing in social purpose 1) to
Explain the way which people use language to communicate; 2) to improve the analysis processes which help us to classify kinds of discourse; and 3) to create theories about happening of communication.
Political news comes from Bangkok Post and the Nation year 2009 because there are too many sensitive points and it is dangerous for the ideas of people in society. This information will be coded and scored and scored-both key words and collocations. Then, coded and scored information will be typed to corpora programs. There are other factors about computing the meaning: parts of speech and clauses/phrases (come before and after key words) including collocations/pattems.
The extent in examined newspapers which differ linguistically in representing the Thai government can be figured out by corpus-based analysis. Corpora are more suitable for functional analyses of language because it describes how to use language as communicate tool and use to answer the question about characteristics of linguistics that the authors used in their writing to present Thai government’s image in news from year 2009.
This study also has to studies the lexicon of key word which refer to Thai government-all related lexical item. Both key words and collocations are analyzed by computer programs which related to corpus linguistics. This means that we use corpora to compute and bring the score to analyze, and result analysis can expose the real meaning of key words.
After computing process by related corpus program(s) and getting next step
Information, this will be analyzed again by critical discourse analysis approach. This study uses two main frameworks to analyze the computed information form corpus program: social Actor (van Leeuwen [1996] and appraisal (Martin and white [2005]). Then, we use CDA approach to reveal Thai govemment’s image in news from year 2009.
