This paper presents a simple mathematical model that
can be used by practicing engineers and researchers to reasonably predict the time from corrosion initiation to corrosion cracking. Cover cracking marks the end of functional
service life of a corroding RC structure where rehabilitation is required. The primary deficiencies of previous models are considered while developing the present model. The
assumptions used in model formulations along with derivations for the model’s main components are presented. The
accuracy of the model is demonstrated by comparing the
model’s predictions to experimental data published in
the literature.
