If they are not adopted and age out of the child welfare system into adulthood,
the states and federal government should be more responsible for their successful transition in adulthood
by overhauling the Independent Living Program’s to give better assistance.
One transitional living service, as the 2011 NYTD survey suggested, is not enough to prepare our youth.
A parent does not disconnect from their biological children at the age of 18, and neither should the states.
No children are prepared to live on their own having only one transitional skill to prepare them for adult success.
