Zika virus, discovered in 1947 in Uganda, belongs to a genus
of viruses known as a Flavivirus, which includes several
other well-known viruses that cause dengue fever, West Nile
fever, and eastern equine encephalitis. Flaviviruses are 40 to
65 nm in width and consists of single-stranded RNA strands
[10]. Human diseases caused by flaviviruses are transmitted
by vectors—blood bites by ticks and mosquitoes—making
these diseases difficult to eradicate. Transmission by a direct
human vector has also been noted to occur including
