The only difference was excitation direction.
The reason was that we desired as high tool response amplitudes as possible. At all measurements, yDS was about four times greater than yLMP.
For example, yDS and yLMP were 12 mm and 3 mm respectively when the spindle rotation frequency was
115 Hz and the tool was excited at 400 Hz.
The deflection of the dummy tool at these two different positions can also be estimated by using the formula for end-loaded cantilever [11].
