The subscale measuring health responsibility indicated a slightly higher mean score for nontraditional students than traditional students, suggesting that nontraditional students may pay more attention to their own health status and educate themselves about health; however, the responsibilities associated with being a nontraditional student presented challenges to participating in general health-promoting behaviors, a finding supported by Pawloski and Davidson (2003).
