The artifact itself was isolated by preparative TLC (Rf = 0.52)
and analyzed in ESI-MS positive mode. A major peak was observed
at m/z 152.11, a mass-to-charge ratio compatible with the
protonated [M+H]+ form of 2-hydroxy-4-methoxybenzaldimine
(Fig. 3).
