Total accessible water (saturation point)
was computed and relative accessibility (frequency) was calculated
for each probe molecule (Fig. 8). Since the total accessible water is
related to the dry mass of the beads, total porosity values could be
calculated. Porosity varied between 91% and 92% for all samples.
Since the values are lower than could be expected from porosity
values in Fig. 2A and B, pocket structures and micropores are most
likely present where macromolecules cannot access.
