Water was collected on the surface layer of the water with a
Van Dorn bottle and was subsequently stored in 500 mL polyethylene
bottles, refrigerated at 4 C and protected from light for subsequent
filtration (INEA, 2003). Five points were analyzed: the
FEEMA CN100 station is located next to the confluence of the
Cunha Canal and the Faria-Timbó Canal and near Avenida Brasil,
which is approximately 1.6 km from the mouth of Cunha Canal;
the FEEMA FR142 station is located in the Faria River; the FEEMA
station GN22, which remains at the tip of Bom Jesus Church at
Fundão Island; the FEEMA GN48 station, that resides between
Raimundo Island and the buoy at Laje do Sancho; and the FEEMA
GN50 station, near the egress of the Canal do Cunha as shown in
Fig. 4.
