Forty-five healthy men aged 25–50 years, with a body mass
index (BMI_ of 25–35 kg m)2 were enrolled in the 12-week
dietary intervention study. Subjects with any major illness
or following any special diet or weight loss diet programme
were excluded. Subjects were recruited through press
releases and adverts in local newspapers. On recruitment,
subjects were allocated into one of the three intervention
