A diet containing the crude drug (30.0 g/kg bw) was fed to mice with
streptozotocin-induced diabetes daily for 21 days. The serum glucose
concentration of mice fasting for 12 hours and 2 hours after a meal was
determined on the 21st day of the experiment. The results demonstrated
that the serum glucose levels of diabetic mice were significantly higher
than those of the mice in the normal control group (p < 0.01). After treatment
for 21 days, the serum glucose concentrations of the treated diabetic
mice were significantly lower than those of the mice in the streptozotocin-induced
diabetic control group (p < 0.01), but were still higher
than the normal control group
