Strategies to Improve Students' English Language skills.
1. Be clear about the expectation of each level.(what they should know when they finish a level)
2. Provide leveling tools and have graduated divisions of learners.
3. encourage consistency in attending class by taking roll, providing rewards for Attendance consistent attendance, year-end ceremony or celebration.
4. Homework assignments to encourage usage of English outside of class and to create accountability for using English; make some assignment in pairs or groups.
5. Reward system races and contests.
6. Listen to radio or videos of excellent English speakers.(ha reports or listening questions)
7. Word journals with vocabulary to review(begin on first day of class.
8. Interviews with English speakers.
Games and Activities.
1. Field trips.
2. Scavenger hunts.(find and take a photo of items on a list-products, signs, etc. in English, a person you ask a question in English, etc.)
3. Different types of drills.
4. Pairs or small group activities.-ask each other questions, research something together, use English ads for"shopping".
5. Have students demonstrate and explain a task.-making a food item, doing an everyday task(putting on shoes, etc.)
6. Have one student demonstrate a task while another student gives instructions.
