Yes, there may be some job losses in telecoms, banks, hotels and other sectors. But a law will also help protect consumers from being the victims of someone buying a list and sitting in Starbucks and making random cold calls in the hope of landing a sale.
But until such time as Thailand passes a “do not call” law, I have had to opt for a better option. I now use my car-based phone when asked to fill out data in various forms and this number is forwarded to my main number only when I am in Thailand. When I’m outside Thailand, nothing gets forwarded. Luckily, my phone bills have seen a dramatic decline.
