The domain decomposition method (DDM) is adopted to analyze
the matrix-rotor induction motor using the 3-D finite element
method on the parallel computing system developed by
us [11], [12]. Using the DDM, the analyzed domain is divided
into multiple subdomains, which are calculated in parallel while
doing appropriate data communications between those subdomains.
In the DDM, the data communication is required only in
the linear solver, and the processing except the data communication
in the linear solver are the same as the processing with a
single CPU.
The parallel computing system is based on the PC cluster
system, which has the distributed memory. Therefore, not only
the speed-up calculation but also the large-scale analysis can be
performed.
