As being read in fiction novels about Isan people’s lives, Isan has been known as the harshest region in Thailand. Many people think that it is the driest land in Thailand inhabited by the poorest group of people who lack the essential facilities for their lives. They interpret from the number of Isan people moving to big cities or foreign countries to earn money for their families. They even conclude that Isan people will die of starvation if they stay and earn their lives in this toughest land. These views and concepts about Isan are absolutely wrong. Isan people can survive and live happily on their land with plenty of food. This food is fresh and available in the natural resources throughout the region all year round. It is interesting that Isan people are able to cook different recipes from local raw materials both from animals and plants that they produce or seek from natural sources during different seasons of the year.
