Group-I animals were administered orally with control (2% gum acacia) for 10 days.
Group-II animals were administered orally with cisplatin (6 mg/kg body weight) on day 5. Group-III animals were administered orally with ethanolic extract of T. cordifolia at dose of 200 mg/kg, from day 1 to day 10. Group-III was also administered with cisplatin i.p injection (6 mg/kg body weight) on day 5.
Group-IV animals were administered orally with ethanolic extract of T. cordifolia at dose of 400 mg/kg, from day 1 to day 10. Group-IV was also administered with cisplatin i.p. injection (6 mg/kg body weight) on day 5.
Group V treated only with extract of T. cordifolia at high dose (400 mg/kg body weight) for 10 days.
Cisplatin was dissolved in normal saline and administered intraperitoneal. The blood was collected; serum was separated for creatinine and urea analysis. After 72 h, cisplatin received animals were sacrificed by cervical decapitation. The kidneys were dissected and stored at −20 °C until analyses were completed. The kidneys were homogenized in 50 mM phosphate buffer (pH 7.0) to give a 10% homogenate. The homogenate was centrifuged at 1000 rpm for 10 min in a cold centrifuge at 1 °C and supernatant was used for enzyme assays and protein determination.
