The effect of particle size on SC-CO2 extraction of carotenoids was tested using the dried carrot sample of different particle sizes (0.25–0.5, 0.5–1, and 1–2 mm). Temperature and pressure were kept constant at 70 °C and 55.1 MPa, respectively. The level of canola oil addition as co-solvent was maintained at 5% (w/w). The flow rate was fixed at 1 L/min. The extracts were collected in eight fractions every 30 min until 4 h. Extractions for each particle size were carried out in duplicate and analyzed by HPLC.
