This study was to examine the effects of back massage on
the quality of sleep of rest home residents. The results of
the research showed that back massage applied for 10
minutes before bedtime in older adults increased the
quality of sleep in older adults. Back massage resulted in
significantly better sleep quality in the older people, as
well as significantly better components of sleep quality:
better perceived sleep quality, shorter sleep latency, greater
sleep efficiency and less daytime dysfunction.
