A range of literature has argued for the importance of studying emotional experiences, which can explain and predict how higher levels of utilitarian and non-utilitarian online outcomes arise from human interaction with computers (see [67]). The area of online learning is one in which emotional experiences are particularly important. The human brain can be influenced by emotional states [77], and emotions can influence both the recall of memories and the operation of cognitive processing [25] and [89]. This study works on the premise that online informal learning is also influenced by emotions and in particular by experiences of enjoyment.
