At an organizational level, our research focused on the Tetra Pak
Group, a multinational leader in the alimentary packaging sector,
which has also established among its strategic objectives the
reduction of GHG emissions related to the activities of its operations
worldwide. For the attainment of this objective, Tetra Pak had
to quantify, and therefore monitor, GHG emissions related to its
assets; for this reason, the company collaborated with the University
of Padua.
The research led to an analysis of GHG emissions for the overall
production at an organizational level through the use of:
a life cycle approach consistent with the requirements of ISO
14040 norms [19,20] for the identification of processes with
meaningful emissions, focusing on the overall products
produced at Tetra Pak sites; and
the methodological and technical references furnished by the
international standards for calculation of emissions from the
identified processes.
