All data were initially subjected to analysis of variance (ANOVA) in a 4 × 3 × 2 factorial treatment arrangement with a completely randomized design using general linear model of SPSS (1997) with the model containing diet, additive and roughage to concentrate ratio and their interactions. Because the interactions were significant (P < 0.05) for most of the parameters, data were then analyzed using one way ANOVA among the treatments within a diet or among the diets within a treatment. When F-test was significant (P < 0.05), Tukey test was utilized to compare significant differences (P < 0.05) among the treatments.
