The bar attached to this restaurant is one of the best places for views over Bangkok. You really have to hand it to the designers of this hotel, they've taken an odd shaped block and created something top-class. Regrettably, the restaurant is a different story.
First the concept: as I understand it the restaurant is supposed to pride itself on interacting with the diners and helping them to create something out of the ingredients on offer. That's (I guess) why the menu is so limited. But it doesn't work. The staff are not trained to a high enough standard to pull that off; though to their credit they try hard. Second the setting: too many reflections from the interior decorations so you can't see the view and just too over the top. The view is great, but the reflection off the shiny interior makes it hard to see outside and there's a huge window frame at about eye-level (why the large windows are above and the small below is just bizarre). There aren't even proper table settings and the tables which I'm guessing are some kind granite have subtle but off-putting stains all over them. Third, the food: limited menu; nice presentation; ok taste but nothing to write home about. Even with a limited menu a number of ingredients were unavailable on the night we dined there. Which is perhaps why I should have been more circumspect about ordering seafood because within one hour of my meal I was feeling unwell and by the morning I was ... well, I will spare the details. I've emailed the restaurant but no reply! Fourth the price: way, way too much for Bangkok.
