DISCUSSION
DCO takes place when the body’s compensatory mechanisms begin to fail or have become inadequate (Dougherty, 1997). According to Mass´e and Antonacci (2005), to prevent morbidity associated with poor systemic perfusion determined by a DCO, early identification of this physiological disturbance and prompt management are essential. Nurses need to be able to quickly identify early signs and risk factors for DCO and provide nursing treatment.
