Wood carbonization and transportation of charcoal. To
determine the amount of wood required to be carbonized into
charcoal to cook a traditional meal, a traditional earth mound kiln
with efficiency in yield of 14% dry mass was assumed, as it is the
most common practice used by charcoal producers in Kenya (Okello
et al., 2001; Mutimba and Barasa, 2005) (Fig. 2a).
