According to all the chart of Stephanie Owen and Isabel Sawhill created, they accepted that there is a significant difference in life-time earning between people with Bachelor’s degree and ones with high school diploma, but they argued that there are also other factors that should be considered before claiming that attending university is a universal key for success. These factors include school type, school selectivity level, major, occupation after graduation, and the probability of completing a degree
In the other hand, George Leef thought about college education that having that degree was a competitive advantage in landing a job, but success always depended on personal performance rather than educational pedigree. College itself isn’t an investment, just one way of increasing your value.
In my opinion, I agree with George Leef because his article is related to the current society, if I have the highest degree of education while my personal performance is very poor, thus I won’t get a good job for my future. Several companies need an employee who has much ability in the field, the education has just been a supportive factor into the succession.
