The CPB (constant percentage bandwidth) concept is applied to time-frequency analysis.
The immediate CPB equivalent of the most common constant bandwidth approach, namely the STFTs (short-time Fourier transforms), turned out to be the WTs (wavelet transforms). This point of view was reinforced by the introduction of the affine energy allowing a similar formulation of the two approaches. A parameterization of the CPB concept was adopted from conventional filter bank analysis, leading to the introduction of a frequency resolution measure for the WTs. The practical use of this new measure was demonstrated by the time-frequency analysis of a speech signal
