An example is that Thais will rarely respond to a question with "no," but will instead pretend that they don't understand English, they'll make implausible excuses, or they'll tell you that the need to check with others without giving specifics. Likewise, they find it difficult to accept a direct negative answer. Using indirect means to try and ascertain an answer to your question will more likely elicit an accurate answer to your question.
