This study sought to understand more about what predicts use of social networking websites (SNS) among internet-using older adults. Using a Technology Acceptance Model (TAM; Davis, 1989; Davis et al., 1989) framework, factors predicting intention to use SNS include frequency of internet use, perceived usefulness of SNS, and trust in SNS. These findings confirm some predictions of the TAM, while failing to find support for the full TAM model. Future research should investigate this same question with a larger sample composed of nonusers who are trained in SNS use, as well as address questions about SNS from a more nuanced perspective.
